AclandBurghley School Julian Osley

Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park

• IT’S back to school time and if you’re one of the lucky kids in the borough that school will be Acland Burghley.

Over the last 14 years all four of my children have been educated there and it’s taken me all that time to put my finger on what makes this school unique – it’s got real heart and soul.

Students are not talked down to but treated on a level and with dignity. There is a general avoidance of petty rules and standardisation. Students are encouraged to be themselves and to be responsible. Staff are confident and welcoming and care deeply about their students.

Over the years it has faced a variety of challenges, tragedies, and losses and it has always responded with utter integrity with the welfare of students coming first.

There have also been many developments and changes but the essential independent spirit of Acland Burghley remains the same. Long may it continue – a tribute to the brilliant staff and students and to our community.
