In isolation, and look who is helping me
Friday, 3rd April 2020
• I HAVE been put under enforced isolation by the health authorities for 12 weeks which means I cannot leave the house except for a short walk.
I initially needed help with my shopping and delivery of my medicines and approached my sheltered housing manager, who informed me that he was not authorised to do shopping or collect my medicine.
Thankfully, he did both as a favour and informed me management was withdrawing staff from the building and supplied me with a phone number and a web address if we needed to get in touch.
I got in touch with Age UK and with Mike Stone of Holly Lodge Tenants’ and Residents’ Association, both of whom responded magnificently. Age UK supplies me with a food parcel every week while Holly Lodge supply me with a meal daily.
I spoke to our councillor and asked what the sheltered unit was supplying with no staff. We are paying for a service.
