• IT was sad to see in your letters pages that the Conservatives in Camden consider insulating homes to be such a low priority.

The Liberal Democrat motion before the council this week calls for the insulation of homes to be treated with more urgency by the council and for more support to be provided to improve the energy efficiency of the council’s own housing stock and private housing.

Improving the energy efficiency of homes can be one of the most cost-effective ways of tackling the rising cost of living crisis and the climate emergency at the same time.

Our call for action is far from symbolic, as the Conservatives claim, but given the Conservative government’s failure to take meaningful action on either of these extremely important issues, it is perhaps unsurprising to see them take this stance here in Camden.
