• JUST like the 29,154 people in Hampstead and Kilburn and 28,387 people in Holborn and St Pancras who signed the petition to parliament to revoke Article 50, there is no doubt where we stand.

Brexit would be a disaster for this country: the Liberal Democrats want to stop Brexit. Of course, Brexit can only be stopped with a democratic mandate.

Our preference is to secure that mandate through a people’s vote. However, in the event that a general election comes first the Liberal Democrats will make sure there is a clear stop Brexit option on the ballot paper.

The contrast with Labour could not be greater. On Saturday, Jeremy Corbyn told Andrew Marr that Britain could be more successful after a Labour Brexit than as part of the European Union.

Then, on Monday, Labour conference had the chance to make Labour campaign for remain: Corbyn said no; Momentum said no; and conference said no. Labour is still a Brexit party.

It is now certain: if you believe that Britain’s future peace, prosperity and success depend on us choosing to remain, the only party representing you is Jo Swinson’s Liberal Democrats.
