If you care about the Palestinians start condemning Hamas’s treatment of them since 2006

• LUCA Salice assumes: “The people of Camden seem to have strong feelings about the current events in Israel and Palestine,” (Any views on the conflict? November 16).

From the letters pages in this newspaper over the last month one does indeed get the impression there is only one viewpoint.

I searched hard for feelings about events in Israel (October 7) amid the unanimous letters (i) condemning Israel and Sir Keir Starmer, and (ii) falsely equating support for Israel as being anti-Palestine.

In fact, the only way to support Palestine in the short and long term is to condemn and destroy Hamas.

Israel knows it has to live with its neighbours and it wants a two-state solution. Hamas wants the destruction of Israel.

Should we all desire the destruction of the only democracy in the region?

The only country in the region that accepts equal rights for women and gays and transgender citizens?

Every human shield murder of a Palestinian by Hamas is turned into emotional blackmail and propaganda by Hamas.

Why don’t the marchers call for Hamas to return the hostages or give themselves up to spare Palestine?

So-called pro-Palestinian marches cost the taxpayers millions which would be better spent in donations to the Red Cross.

If you care about the Palestinians, as I do, start condemning Hamas’s treatment of them since 2006.
