If HS2 goes we could have a new public park

‘Let’s have a new park instead of HS2’

• ONCE the fingers of the dismal duo of Theresa May and Chris Grayling are finally prised from the levers of power there is a fair chance of the ludicrous HS2 project being cancelled.

HS2 has already damaged Camden with considerable loss of green spaces, particularly across the Regent’s Park estate and with the complete destruction of St James Gardens and its magnificent mature plane trees.

The temptation would be for the space surrounding Euston cleared for HS2 to be used for much-needed housing and/or for commercial development. That temptation should be resisted.

The area should be formed into a new public park both to compensate Camden for the harm it has suffered and to leave a legacy for future generations.
