• ESTHER Whitby’s experience in the Odeon Camden Town (Why our experience at the Odeon screening was a dark matter, October 19) reminds me of a few years ago when, looking forward to seeing the film Rabbit-Proof Fence, I bought a ticket for the afternoon showing and sat in the auditorium completely alone for eight or 10 minutes.

About two minutes before the programme started, and before the place was plunged into darkness, I vacated my place faster than any rabbit.

I didn’t get to see the film and the ticket office gave me my money back. Sometimes I wonder if they showed the film to an empty cinema?
