I was delighted to see that my ward had the highest turnout on May 3

• LOOKING at the results of the recent council elections I was delighted to see that my ward, Highgate, had the highest turnout, 50.4 per cent, across Camden. The lowest, to provide context, was King’s Cross (29.7 per cent).

Interesting, too, that the total vote for the three Labour candidates in Highgate was only 341 more than for the three Green candidates. It seems clear that Highgate residents really do want councillors who work hard and hold the council to account and will take the time and trouble to vote.

Congratulations to all our three elected members, especially Sian Berry who led the pack with 2,073 votes. Only Labour councillors in Kentish Town and St Pancras & Somers Town did better. I look forward to working with all three councillors over the next four years.

Thanks also to all those patient and friendly tellers sitting outside the polling stations, luckily blessed with fine weather.
