I support the Right to Buy scheme

Thursday, 18th November 2021

• IN response to the letter (Abolish Right to Buy, November 11), the scheme is a way that working families on a modest income are able to purchase a property which they can then adapt to the needs of their family rather than have to move out of a borough where they may have lived and worked all of their lives and where their support group is based.

The money paid over to the council should obviously be reinvested to build more affordable housing. Surely it is up to the council to complete stringent due diligence when selling to tenants. Not everyone using this scheme has an ulterior motive.
