• A HAPPY and surprise announcement: I’m standing as your Liberal Democrat council candidate for Hampstead Town ward. By-election polling day will be Thursday July 7.

In the local elections only last month the Labour Party won a council seat in this ward. But the elected councillor decided he didn’t want to serve.

I’m delighted to offer myself to serve again. It’s been lovely to be out and about and to be greeted by such welcoming, enthusiastic, responses.

So many people know the difference I made when I was a councillor – the festivals we organised to support vibrant high streets, the renovation of the war memorial by Whitestone Pond, and the successful campaigns against inappropriate developments in our special part of London.

Many of you will know I have never gone away as an active campaigner for our community. With Conservative support ebbing away, the Liberal Democrats are now the official opposition to Labour on Camden Council.

I will join a strong team and be a strong voice to stand up for Hampstead, ensuring scrutiny and challenge where it is needed.

I’m looking forward to the campaign ahead. I hope I may have your support.

LINDA CHUNG
Liberal Democrat Candidate
for Hampstead Town ward
