I saw ‘bladed instruments’ on sale in our market

• THE Round House and Queen’s Crescent Community Association organised fantastic entertainment last Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Enjoyed by a total of perhaps 500 people, it was a real start to begin the healing of a shocked community. The young people performing the “circus” and dancing acts demonstrated the abundance of talent in our area.

Despite the fact that the horrendous killing of Calvin Bungisa happened less than a fortnight before, both organisations went ahead with their event.

This is in marked contrast to the QC market council-funded “consultation” two days before the circus event which was cancelled (we understand for safety and other reasons).

This was a pity as I could have pointed out the open sale in the market that day of “bladed instruments”. I alerted the police and community safety officer who both replied.

My email to the council market team manager, along with a leaflet for stallholders about the law, was not acknowledged.

My understanding is that it is the responsibility of the “market team” to ensure the law about sales of such goods is properly applied.
