I know one way out of the so-called ‘housing crisis’

Thursday, 31st May 2018

• COUNCILLOR Richard Cotton refers to the worst housing crisis since the Second World War, (Keep up the pressure to make homelessness history, May 24). It’s high time the political classes, including the readers of this paper, stopped repeating this dangerous mantra.

There are more than enough houses in Britain for the people who live here, a small adjustment of the tax legislation, to provide that any owner of property in the UK should be held liable to pay full tax here, would instantly flood the market with empty property, as the off-shorers flee.

Apparently this possibility hasn’t been raised as the “political classes” are happy to live in their property bubble.
