Green Party councillor Sian Berry

• HAVING read the cynical letter from David Douglas about Siân Berry’s resignation from the council (The councillor stepping down means an expensive by-election, October 26), it is hardly surprising that he turns out to be a Tory – and the local agent at that.

He concentrates on her finances instead of, like everyone else, expressing appreciation for her dedication and good work for her constituents.

Frankly I would rather see the Camden Council opposition composed all of Green party councillors with no Tories if people like him are typical, like those stupid Tory MPs who nag at the prime minister to reduce taxes despite the drastic effect it would have on the Treasury and national debt.

I sincerely hope Siân Berry wins the Brighton seat to carry on the tradition there, after her dedication and work in Highgate she certainly deserves to.
