• I HAVE very little sympathy with your interviewee’s present situation; her need, her entitlement to a bigger home, (Overcrowding? This is what it’s like, April 7).

Is she aware that our Earth is at a critical point in its existence, due mainly to the damage humans have inflicted on it?

Global warming, population growth, pollution on land and sea, loss of habitat and extinction to many of the creatures that live alongside us… I could go on.

In the light of these serious issues facing all of us now is it not time to think more carefully when planning a family?

A contentious subject but one that needs to be faced. Not doing so would be selfish and irresponsible of us.
