I am opposed to plans for an ugly development in Kentish Town

Friday, 26th August 2022

• I AM vehemently opposed to idea of a monstrous tower block at 19-37 Highgate Road, Kentish Town, as are all the residents around.

There was some success in highlighting the horrendous high-rise plans at Murphy’s Yard. This development is just as bad and will affect local people more profoundly.

A plan to develop the Highgate Road site was supposedly passed in 2013 but nothing built. Now Camden are resurrecting this, the site having been acquired by GM London.

They are saying it is “extant” from the 2013 plan, but how can it be? The plan is totally different from the one put forward in 2013.

This horrid tower block will block everyone’s light and view. This development could have been a flagship in Camden, a showcase of excellence in town planning.

But no. Instead it is a cheap, ugly, high-rise, high-density, block of rabbit hutches for people to live in.

I think it is our duty to stop Camden from building monstrous tower blocks on every piece of available land.

I have lived in Kentish Town for 50 years and would like to put a stop to 19-37 Highgate Road development if I can.
