MORE than 200 mourners came out of their homes to bid farewell to Adam Harkins Sullivan – one of the youngest people to die with coronavirus – as a funeral procession passed through Camden Town.
The large numbers were a testament to the popularity of the young man, nicknamed Spud, who died aged just 28 at University College Hospital last month.
A body builder, he did not have underlying health conditions and his death had left friends of this former St Aloysius schoolboy shocked. The hearse was headed with a floral wreath to “Spud” in the Irish colours of green, white and gold.

It was followed by a horse and carriage with his mother, father and sister walking behind. Council staff came out of the Crowndale Centre to distribute hand gel and face masks to the crowd of around 300 people outside funeral directors Levertons.

The majority stayed behind while close family and friends walked along the pavements of Camden High Street and Kentish Town Road.
Mr Harkins Sullivan had lived on the Regent’s Park estate, Agar Grove and, at the time of his death, the Three Fields estate in Camden Town. He was a painter and decorator who aspired to work for Levertons as a funeral director.
His family had described him as “such a beautiful soul deserves to be beautifully remembered”.
He was buried in Islington and St Pancras cemetery, which was closed to the public for the funeral service yesterday (Wednesday).
