HS2: ‘They should have stopped it long ago – and it’s not too late to do so’
• WHY doesn’t it surprise me, that it’s been revealed that the Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska (who has a close link with Putin) has a stake in tunnelling work for the disreputable white elephant HS2, to the tune of over £2billion of public money!
So what are the government going to do about it, and was this another one of the Boris deals that continue to hurt the public purse?
Also, as Michael Gove is supposedly seeking legislation to seize British property owned by Russian oligarchs and freeze their assets, along with Boris Johnson stating that Russian oligarchs won’t be able to launder cash in the UK, what is he going to do about the irony of Oleg Deripaska profiting from the HS2 project (and funded by the British taxpayer) and the public’s inability to pay for it.
The cost of living crisis is already causing widespread poverty, destitution and punishment of the British people, without adding the £100billion cost of HS2 to it!
Also, why has the Public Accounts Committee, whose purpose is supposed to scrutinise the financial accountability and expenditure of government allowed the shambles of HS2 to continue?
They have already admitted that HS2 is poor value for money. This is an absolute scandal. They should have stopped it long ago – and it’s not too late to do so!
Which makes you wonder if the sleaze, starting from the very top, is even more widespread than any of us realise, and if they’re going to continue playing Russian roulette with our public money and our lives!
