No direction known: HS2 a project on track?

• THE HS2 roadworks continue to provide much amusement to lovers of maze puzzles.

The photo (above) was taken at the junction of Augustus Street and Park Village East. Note that straight ahead is not an option unless you want to fall into the railway cutting.

Surely this picture could stand as a metaphor for the whole of this misconceived project; a project that couldn’t decide whether it was about speed or about capacity; that would never give a straight answer about its budget or its timescale; and one of which we still don’t know whether it’s coming or going.
