HS2 is a gravy train to allow a land-grab

• READING the report on the HS2 protest in Euston Square Gardens, (HS2 protesters dig in despite court ruling to vacate Euston site, February 4) made my blood pressure start to elevate.
And know I am not alone. Lord Berkeley is in full praise of these brave eco-warriors.
Yet Camden Council leader Georgia Gould is quoted as saying the protesters should leave the tunnel to safety and ensure that their voices continue to be heard in the national discussion about HS2 and the climate ecological discourse.
This isn’t, and can’t be, business as usual. We taxpayers are not listened to at all!
Let’s face it. HS2 is a gravy train that facilitates a fully legal land-grab of expensive central London real estate.
Leading politicians are usually not scientifically trained. They do however have training in negotiations, mainly in fiscal matters.
So what else can protesters do, who are trained in seeing our future according to scientific evidence, but to follow Mahatma Gandhi’s example of passive resistance, to show how important cutting HS2 Ltd is?
If US president Joe Biden can say no to a major oil pipeline and in so doing go against the most powerful fossil fuel industry, cannot our prime minister say no to the construction industry here and listen to those who voted for him?
