The Alexandra & Ainsworth estate, also known as Rowley Way [Oxyman, CC By 2.5, Detail]
• AS residents of the Grade II* listed Alexandra and Ainsworth Estate, we are deeply concerned about the upcoming heating retrofit proposed by Camden Council.
The lack of transparent communication regarding the logistics of this significant project is causing worry among residents.
One fundamental aspect that Camden has failed to communicate so far is how we will be living in our homes during the implementation stage.
Residents of this estate have different needs, including the elderly, residents with health conditions, families with young children, and those of us who work from home.
The absence of clear communication leaves us all wondering how we will cope and how our daily lives will be disrupted.
Some of us are pet owners so finding temporary accommodation could be an issue. All of us have belongings that will need to be safeguarded once the estate becomes a building site. And how long will we live in a building site?
Will Camden increase the security while the works occur? What about temporary relocation and storage of our belongings? Was this even considered? Is that factored into the overall cost? How will the works be scheduled with the residents? How much notice will we be given before works start inside our homes?
We have not seen a plan that ensures minimal hardship for residents. It is essential for the council to engage with us immediately, providing comprehensive information for informed decision-making. We have the right to understand how this project will affect us!
