How many empty council properties are lying empty?

Residents of Haddo House in Kentish Town are concerned by ‘overdevelopment’
• HOW wonderful that we are being asked to name “suitable sites” around the borough so that Camden can build housing to help relieve their ever growing housing list, (Town Hall’s list of small patches of estate land to build on, July 7).
Recently Camden have built on some similar sites, notably at Kiln Place where new housing of a totally different style and material, have been squashed into small areas resulting in old tenants having to overlook new tenants.
Have any of these planners any idea what it is like to live like this? One of the would-be sites is the car park at Haddo House. Yes, hit the motorist again Camden!
What seems to be missing from the list mentioned is that wonderfully large building site that has been exactly that for the past five years – Bacton.
So before we all start pointing out shoe box areas to build on, let’s start building on spaces that were designated for exactly that purpose and wouldn’t it be good to know just how many empty council flats and houses are in the borough which could also be used if attended to, instead of being left empty for years.
