The new Standard Hotel on Euston Road

• THIS weekend, after the new top two storeys on the new Standard Hotel on Euston Road (the old Camden Council building) were revealed, we got a very nasty surprise.

According to the “mock up” photo, they were expected to look a slightly chestnut coloured, rather big, but in keeping with the rest of the building. Instead, as you can see from the photo I took from our building next door (above), the two storeys are black, and in complete contrast to the rest of the building which is now white.

It is not what we were promised, and looks ridiculous. How was this allowed to happen? Added to that, as the top two floors are almost entirely glass and are expected to be public rooms what will it be like for residents nearby with the lights on all night?
