How come our councillors don’t even respond to constructive criticism?

• I WONDERED why, despite all the negative (and often justified!) articles and letters in the Camden New Journal about the often poor services we get from the council, there are so very few responses from our elected councillors.

Being a great believer in credit were it is due, I emailed the Older People’s Champion, Councillor Alison Kelly, about the fantastic services for us oldies at the Queen’s Crescent Community Centre.

I sought her advice on how I might publicise these, which are funded by charity grants, BUT are housed in a Camden Council-owned community centre. I have repeatedly asked her for this advice but, alas, she has not been able to reply.

I am not sure whether she has ever visited the centre to see for herself the wide range of services available and how they attract “customers” from across our very diverse neighbourhood.

I also asked her for information about her role as “champion” as I am one of the locals who is nearing his 80th birthday who feels he will soon be needing a “champion”.
