How about hanging gardens on the proposed new hotel with 80 rooms on Camden High Street?

• THE proposed new hotel with 80 rooms on Camden High Street corner Delancey Street (former the Woolworth store) will be before the planning committee on December 19.

If the committee is minded to grant permission (about 30 rooms have no windows) we would like to appeal to the members of the committee to attach a stringent condition to the permission for greening all flat areas of the building from the second floor up, including the extensive flat roof. There are flat areas on the High Street elevation, Delancey Street and Signmakers Yard off Delancey Street.

The shape of the building proposed so far (see above) is suitable for holding plants and trees of any kind and its appearance then would strike a resemblance of a building altered to the taste of Queen Semiramis in 800 BCE – known as the Hanging Gardens of Babylon of 2,800 years ago.
