How about a vintage performance?
Friday, 6th May 2022
• HERITAGE Live concerts staged at Kenwood House and other venues, featuring performances by contemporary artistes, are all the rage but I’m left hankering for a live performance of vintage popular music and song from the pre-rock era and even the early 1960s prior to the advent of brash other genres making a killing at their expense.
Is it too much to expect for some mediocre band to rise to the occasion and organise such an event in the cultural hubs of Islington or Camden even if it means they have to pinch much of their repertoire from across the big pond?
I dare say there could be many of us in our twilight years who’d unabashedly love to listen to a live rendition of those hauntingly evocative songs from hit parades of the past before they serve to remain only of academic interest to future generations.
Perhaps some enchanted evening we’ll listen to just a song at twilight and let the rest of the world go by.
