THE independent candidate who slashed Sir Keir Starmer’s majority two years ago has swung behind Zack Polanski as voters get ready to pick a new MP.

Andrew Feinstein was placed second in Holborn and St Pancras in 2024 – still 11,572 behind, but having cut the Labour lead by nearly 20 per cent. He had already said he was “not in a position” to personally challenge for the seat and this week said the Camden People’s Alliance – the political group which was born out of his campaign – was endorsing the Green candidate.

A statement in the name of Mr Feinstein and co-chair Susan Michie said: “We are delighted to back Zack on the basis of the broad progressive platform he has endorsed. CPA will campaign for him in its own name, confident that we can help him win a famous victory over the entrenched local Labour machine that has long been at odds with the progressive values of our area.”

It said Mr Polanski had agreed to support the CPA’s “key pledges” which included opposing austerity, backing workers’ rights and “campaigning against Israel’s genocide.”

The CPA won a council seat in May after the Greens agreed not to run in two wards amid concerns a left-wing vote would be split. They now share a working partnership in the Town Hall chamber as Camden’s official opposition.
