• NO way do we need new Tories any more than we needed or deserved Tony Blair and his New Labour of stupid wars and economic woes (The reason we need the ‘New Tories’, February 15).

New Tories could damage socialism even more than New Labour tried to do. We need radical change but including a harness of plough-horse team power linked to so many socialists in Europe.

They were committed to achieving so much in my lifetime, which is 1950 onwards, after such damaging conflict with the arch brutal racist Nazi Germany.
