Masta Ace
HIP-HOP royalty from the east coast scene is due on stage in Camden Town tonight (Monday).
Masta Ace plays the Jazz Cafe in Parkway in what should be a joy for anybody who’d like to turn the clock back.
The rapper and record producer hails from Brooklyn and first gained fame in the late 1980s as a member of the hip-hop group Juice Crew, which included fellow rap legends like Big Daddy Kane and Kool G Rap.
He is widely considered to be one of the great pure New York MCs, praised for his exceptional skills in raw hip-hop lyricism. But despite his talent and respect from other reappers, he is often overlooked in mainstream circles.
Over the years, Masta Ace has released numerous solo albums, including the critically acclaimed Disposable Arts and A Long Hot Summer.
He is also known for his collaborations with other artists, including Eminem, who cited him as a major influence in his own work. Through his music and philanthropy, Masta Ace continues to make an impact on the world of hip-hop and beyond.
Doors open at 7.30pm tonight
