High-rise developments are destroying communities all over London

• I AM worried about the council’s plans for the development of Euston, (HS2 Ltd must do a lot more to honour their commitments to mitigate construction disruption in Camden, February 20).

We don’t want another King’s Cross, which has proved such a bad outcome for the people of Camden: motivated by profit, it features large anonymous office buildings, expensive private flats, and luxury shops aimed at tourists.

The council needs to take a different approach at Euston and it should be one which prioritises affordable homes and jobs for local people.

Can we please have a discussion in Camden about what sort of housing will be good for us to live in, rather than always trying to squeeze in as many flats as possible and damn the consequences?

Maybe terraces with front doors and medium-height flats arranged around private courtyards, which are suitable for families and community life. Not tower blocks!

High-rise development is destroying communities all over London, driven by developers and local authorities. Let’s hope that Camden can do something different at Euston.
