THE Eagles fought back from a goal down at half time to secure a place in the second round of the Challenge
Trophy Cup on Saturday.
The Camden-based club (pictured) went up against St Mark’s in Clapham Common on a “dreadful pitch”, according to player-manager Kris Culley.
After missing three one-on-ones, Alex Gardiner equalised on 70 minutes after meeting a cross from Tashan Bradshaw Brown at the back post.
Five minutes later, the high-flying Eagles edged into the lead when Culley hammered a botched clearance into the top corner from the edge of the penalty box.
A slick back heel set up a blistering counter-attack for the Eagles as Rene Jarrett put the match out of sight with a 35-yard screamer to wrap up a 3-1 victory.
Dan Loughney’s tough tackling display earned him the coveted Eagles’ man-of-the-match award.
Eagles boss Culley said afterwards: “We made it hard work for ourselves, but we won the game and we remain unbeaten.
“Rene will never score a better goal in his life.”
