PLAYERS from Earlsberg Eagles soared to the greatest season in the club’s history on Saturday after they beat Shepherds Bush United in the final of the Champions Shield to score a tremendous treble.
Made up of top players from across Camden and Islington, the high-flying Eagles went into the game having already been crowned champions in the Premier Division of the West End League. Their now bulging trophy cabinet also boasts the prestigious Arthur Dann Cup.
Having netted so much success this season there was little surprise that United couldn’t clip the Eagles’ wings.
Jay Miles broke the deadlock after 15 minutes when his 20-yard screamer beat the keeper at his near post, before Ashley Dray scored what manager Kris Culley described as the club’s “best team goal of the season”.
Kayan Kalipha added a third, before United grabbed a late consolation.
The final word of the afternoon, however, belonged to man-of-the-match Miles who scored yet another contender for goal-of-the-season to seal a 4-1 victory.
