Helping to keep our communities together is vital

• I AGREE with the proposals being put forward by the Dartmouth Park Neighbourhood Forum plan to allow people living in Camden to be able to extend their own homes while retaining the best features of the area. This would be a massive step enabling local families to stay in Camden and alleviating pressure on housing.
It is just so easy to say what all the problems are with housing in inner London, with rents and house prices now being out of reach for the vast majority, which drives residents out of the borough they love and are part of. So it’s great to see residents putting forward realistic, sensible and cost-effective solutions which will make a real difference.
It is vital that we help and support those that have been born or have lived here for many years to remain part of our community. It is also a housing policy that, if applied to Camden’s own housing stock, could help to accommodate larger families and stop the flow of families having to leave this wonderful diverse borough.
