Have you spotted a red kite

Thursday, 2nd March 2017

• RED kites have been a great success since they were reintroduced in the Chilterns more than 30 years ago and are frequently to be seen in Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire and elsewhere.

On Friday February 24, a brilliantly sunny day, I had the great pleasure of seeing one flying high over Kentish Town tube station in the company of a gull at about 11am. Its unmistakable forked tail was clearly visible. I know that kites are seen over London from time to time and I wonder if there have been any other sightings in this area.
