Harris Academy in Marlborough Hill has appointed Samantha Green as its new principal.
Ms Green joined the school on June 7, replacing Graeme Smith.
She has been a teacher for 30 years, and was previously the headteacher at Pimlico School. She went on to become an executive leader with the Future Academies Trust.
Ms Green said she will focus on ensuring teaching at the “good” rated school by Ofsted is of high quality, continues to be a “happy” environment for pupils and improves extra-curricular activities at the school. The school was known as Quintin Kynaston until September 2017.
“The school has been on a great journey and it’s an exciting time to join,” the new headteacher said. “I take a long-term view of how to lead schools and evolve them. With these three strands of educational work being done to a an exceptionally high standard, young people and the staff team can be inspired.”
After a turbulent 18 months inside schools with Covid, she hopes that she can help relative normality continue at the school.
“It is right to invest in making sure our young people receive the best education and leave school well set up for their future – not only in terms of great qualifications, but also gaining experiences and opportunities that develop them as people so that they are able to play their part in society and in their local community.”
