HIGHGATE heroines Georgia Fear and Ellie Gilmore led the charge as the Harriers put in a sparkling showing on Saturday in the North West London Young Athletes League at Trent Park.
Pace-setter Georgia raced to an impressive victory in the Under-17s competition as she completed the 4,200m course in 16 minutes, 31 seconds, finishing nearly two minutes ahead of her nearest challenger.
Club-mate Ellie also caught the eye as she won the girls’ Under-11s race, which was run over 1,400m, in a time of 5.38.
The age group brought unrivalled success for Highgate, with four teams from the club dominating the top-five standings, securing a top-three finish along the way.
Among the young runners joining Ellie across the finishing line were Dorothy Brock, Saphia Marshall and Nicol Cresto-Dina, who raced home in second, third and fourth place respectively.
In the girls’ Under-13s event Cecily Turner was Highgate’s highest-placed finisher as she secured third spot after completing the 2,450m course in just over 11 minutes.
Finlay Doyle recorded a fourth place finish to help the Harriers take the runners up spot in the boys’ Under-11s competition.
Theo Machin-Paley and clubmate Oran Gallagher also ran well to finish sixth and seventh respectively.
Two more strong runners on the day were Oliver Hadaad and Alastair Sleeman.
Oliver finished 11th in the boys’ Under-13s race, while Alastair was 10th in the Under-15s age group.
