TALENTED youngsters from Highgate Harriers Athletics Club needed just three days to record their first championship-winning results of 2014.

Triumphant trio Georgia Fear, Terry Fawden and Hannah Viner were all crowned county champions after racing to victory at the Middlesex Cross-Country Championships on Saturday.

Club-mate Hattie Brock added to the individual success as she scooped a silver medal, while Highgate also celebrated medal-winning results in the team events.

Competing on a waterlogged course at Wormwood Scrubs, Terry won the boys’ Under-15s event, which was run over 4,000m, in a time of 15 minutes, 9 seconds.

His victory helped Highgate secure first place in the team rankings.

Dempster Fawden and Esteban Garous also scored valuable points after finishing sixth and ninth respectively.

Georgia continued the victorious run by winning the girls’ Under-17s race, completing the 5,000m course in 19.44.

Competing over the same distance, Hannah won the women’s Under-20s event in 20.55, finishing exactly two-minutes ahead of club-mate Hattie who took second.

In the girls’ Under-13s category, Cecily Turner finished sixth, Sasha Fear was ninth and Jess Wilkinson was 12th as Highgate secured a third place finish, and with it a deserved bronze medal.

Milly Dunne and Isabella Millett also put in strong displays in the Under-13s age group despite running against a much older field.

Their coach, Kate Jenrick, who has won the Senior Surrey Championships several times, said: “I thought Milly and Isabella did particularly well as they are both still only 11 years old.”
