RISING St Pancras ABC star Mohammed “Sediq” Hossain is gaining a vital education between the ropes as he carves out an amateur career tipped to land glory.

The 17-year-old from Queen’s Crescent put together a series of “solid combinations” on Friday night when he outpointed Ksawier Komarnicki from West Kingsdown Boxing Club in Kent.

Praising Hossain’s performance over the three two-minute rounds, Saints’ head coach CJ Hussein said: “Sediq worked really hard and put in some solid combinations. He’s only had a handful of fights so far, but he’s getting better and better all the time. The only thing missing now is the experience.

“Our coaches, Alan Higgins and Chudi Onwuazor, have taken him under their wings, and I’m confident if Sediq keeps working as hard as he is, he’ll go on to become an amateur champion.”

Sediq is part of an impressive squad emerging from the St Pancras gym in Kentish Town. CJ added: “We have put together a strong team of young boxers and are expecting to have a really good season. Everyone at the club is excited and really looking forward to seeing the boys develop.”
