COUNCIL planners have blocked a bid to convert a closed down Argos into a new gym.

Officers in Camden’s planning department ruled the catalogue company’s former branch in Finchley Road, Swiss Cottage, needed to be protected for retail.

The PureGym chain, which has a string of sites across London, including centres in Camden Town and Holborn, had filed plans for a 24-hour gym.
