Published: 4 February, 2016

ARSENAL’s charity match day proved a record-breaking hit as the club raised over £250,000 to support causes across Islington and Camden.

The Gunners squad, with manager Arsene Wenger, all donated a day’s wages to the Arsenal Foundation, while fans also gave generously during the 2-1 win over Man City.

The Foundation helps to refurbish football pitches at schools and estates across Islington, Camden and Hackney. It also supports community groups with grants, and works with human rights charity, Freedom from Torture, to deliver football and therapy sessions for refugees.

Wenger said: “We are very proud to have that power of influencing people’s lives in a positive way.”
