THE World Cup might be in full swing but football fanatics this week got the news they were really waiting for.

The fixtures for the new season were announced, revealing that Arsenal will kickstart their Premier League campaign by welcoming London rivals Crystal Palace to the Emirates Stadium.

Having won the FA Cup Arsene Wenger’s side will, of course, line up against league champions Manchester City at Wembley in the FA Community Shield on Sunday, August 10.

They will then face Palace at home on August 16, before starting a run of three away games against Everton, Leicester and Man City.

Fans will have to wait just six games for the big one, with north London rivals Tottenham visiting the Emirates on Saturday September 27.

The likelihood is that a number of the dates will change as TV scheduling comes into play.

And, if Arsenal win their Champions League play-off, they could even end up being forced to play seven away league games in a row.
