ARSENE Wenger has admitted that the Gunners are “nowhere near” winning the Premier League title.
With 10 games to go Arsenal are currently clinging to a place in the top four as they wrestle with Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Southampton in what promises to be a thrilling race for Champions League qualification.
And despite seeing his side net their eighth win in nine league games on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over QPR at Loftus Road, Wenger is adamant that a push for the title is not currently feasible.
“We are nowhere near to winning the Premier League, and nowhere near close to being in the race,” he said.
“But what we want is to do as well as we can without speculating on the weakness of any other teams.
“The only thing you can say is that it’s very tight. You look behind you and there’s plenty of people chasing us.”
Following the shock 3-1 defeat against Monaco in the first leg of their Champions League knock-out game, Wenger also revealed that he is under just as much pressure as everyone else despite spending 18 years and counting in the Arsenal hot-seat.
“I have exactly the same pressure as other managers,” said the Frenchman. “I want to win football games and it is a huge disappointment not to win. But you have to accept that that is part of the game.”
