ALEX Oxlade-Chamberlain is aiming for more goals after guiding the Gunners to a vital 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium.

The England international marked his first league start since the opening day of the season with a brace as a steady Arsenal display earned the three points they needed in order to return to the top of the Premiership table.

“It’s always an amazing feeling to score a goal, especially at a superb stadium like the Emirates,” the Ox said afterwards.

“I’m glad to give something back to the fans. I want to add goals to my game, so it was nice to get two.”

Home fans were also given a possible glimpse of things to come as Arsene Wenger opted to play Oxlade-Chamberlain in the centre of midfield against the Eagles instead of on the wing.

It was a move that delighted the 20-year-old. “To play in the heart of midfield was nice,” he said.

“It’s nice the boss has faith in me there. It’s great playing in midfield with players like we have, especially when we have got a lot of the ball.”

Meanwhile Wenger has reiterated that if you want to make a good prediction regarding the title race, then simply don’t make a prediction.

“The title race is never as simple as everyone predicts,” he said. “I said a long time ago that nobody will be absolutely above the others. It will be down to consistency.”
