ARSENE Wenger believes Monday night’s FA Cup win over Manchester United will be the perfect fillip for his players ahead of their hectic end-of-season run in.

Danny Welbeck stole in to score the winner at Old Trafford as the Gunners recorded a famous 2-1 victory over United to set up a Wembley date against either Bradford City or Reading in the semi-finals.

But the Arsenal is adamant that the away win has handed his side more than just the chance to retain the prestigious trophy. “Every win makes you stronger,” said Wenger.

“When you win in the big games it’s more of a mental boost. We know we have the football to go with it but the belief is important as well.

“On the day we have shown that we are mentally on the level that was required because it was a very physical game, a very committed game where we needed to deal with a very dedicated United team and we did that well without forgetting to play our football. You need quality to do that.”

Meanwhile Arsenal have announced they’ll join Everton, Stoke City and a Singapore Select XI team for the Barclays Asia Trophy in Singapore this summer.

It will be the first time that the club have participated in the tournament, which will be held at the new 55,000-capacity national stadium at the Singapore Sports Hub on Wednesday July 15 and Saturday July 18.
