TUESDAY night’s disappointing 2-1 defeat against Southampton in the League Cup wasn’t doom and gloom for everyone.

Young Gun Isaac Hayden, 19, says playing at the Emirates for the first time was “a fantastic experience” which has left him craving more. He played a full 90 minutes at centre back in the third-round clash, which the Saints won thanks to Dusan Tadic’s well-taken penalty and a stunning strike from Nathaniel Clyne.

Despite seeing Arsenal knocked out of the competition Hayden had a night to remember. “It’s the first time I’ve played in front of a home crowd which was good. I’ve been on the bench a few times so it was good to finally get on the pitch. It’s a great first taste and now I want more of it.”
