NEW signing Calum Chambers hasn’t even completed his first week with the Gunners, yet already he’s twice found himself in the firing line.

The 19-year-old was unveiled on Monday after completing a switch from Southampton in a deal said to be worth £16million.

Less than 24 hours later the highly-rated defender sparked a Twitter storm when he was pictured wearing the No 5 shirt during a training session in Austria – raising further questions over the future of Thomas Vermaelen, who usually wears the number.

By the time the pictures of Chambers in his new kit had hit the papers he’d already been threatened with legal action by one of his team-mates. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, known as “Chambo” jokingly tweeted: “Although I’m ready to go to court regarding the whole nickname situation, really happy to see @CalumChambers95 at Arsenal. Big future!”

Chambers’ warm welcome didn’t stop there as Kieran Gibbs posted a short clip on Instagram of him singing The Kooks’ song Naive at his initiation ceremony in front of his new team-mates.

Welcome to north London Calum!!
