ARSENE Wenger is urging his troops to rectify the disappointment of being knocked out of the League Cup by bouncing back and beating high-flying Liverpool on Saturday.

The Gunners were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea at the Emirates on Tuesday, their second home defeat on the spin following the 2-1 defeat against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Quizzed on whether or not he feared his players had suffered a damaging psychological effect after losing two home games in a week, Wenger roared, “Look it’s better to win if you ask me. Of course it’s difficult but that’s part of the season. You know you will not win all of the games but we have to respond well on Saturday against Liverpool.

“We are in a strong position in the league and we have a good opportunity at home and we have to turn this round.”

After losing to London rivals Chelsea Wenger also faced accusations that Arsenal’s squad simply didn’t have enough strength in depth.

But again the Frenchman insisted it was important not to get carried away by the defeat.

“Don’t go too quickly in the conclusions,” he said. “We have Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Podolski who are out. It’s three players who have a big impact offensively.

“If you put them in I believe that it’s a completely different position in the team.”
