HECTOR Bellerin says it felt “amazing” to score for the first time for Arsenal on Sunday after rounding off a comprehensive win over Aston Villa with the fifth and final goal at the Emirates Stadium.
The right-back struck in stoppage time, arrowing a low shot in off the far post from the edge of the box.
“It was an amazing feeling,” he said after the game. “It’s my first professional goal so I’m really happy. Thanks to all my team-mates, all the coaches and all the fans for the support they’ve given me.”
Arsenal’s biggest win of the season was achieved without Alexis Sanchez, who is struggling with a hamstring strain. According to Bellerin, the victory shows the strength-in-depth that manager Arsene Wenger has at his disposal.
“Alexis is definitely an important player but we’ve got loads of players on the bench, and we’ve got a lot of players in the team with the same quality,” added Bellerin.
“We’ve shown that the machine keeps going, even while Alexis is not on the pitch – we don’t stop, we don’t miss anyone.
“I just wish him a very speedy recovery because he’s a very important player for us who is having a great season and I love watching him play.”
