THE announcements keep coming for this year’s Hyde Park BST (British Summer Time). In between the three long weekends of big headliners, BST’s mostly free Open House returns with eight days of music, activities and more. It starts with All Things Orchestral on June 23 – presented by Myleene Klass, ft Alfie Boe and performed by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra – which aims to bring classical music to the masses with affordable ticket prices. Open House continues with free live music, music workshops, open-air cinema nights, arts and crafts and theatre performances. There’s also a street food market and pop-up bars. BST has also announced more supports to join Take That, The Script and Sugababes on July 1: Will Young + Aly & AJ + Here At Last, Sonny Tennet + Jazmine Flowers join The Script + Sugababes. And, joining Guns n’ Roses, The Pretenders + The Darkness on June 30 are Dirty Honey + James and the Cold Gun + The Dust Coda + Grade 2 + Bad Nerves + The Foxies.

Earplugs at the ready for The Melvins’ 40th anniversary tour at Electric Ballroom on June 6. With over 30 albums and countless EPs and singles over their career, the setlist could be anything!

• Tickets go on general sale today (Friday) for Cantona Sings Eric on Stage at the Bloomsbury Theatre on Oct 28, where the polymath footballer makes his live debut following today’s (Friday) release of his first single on Decca Records.

You might notice some improvements at The Dublin Castle, which has been awarded nearly £3,000 from the Music Venue Trust’s new Pipeline Investment Fund for maintenance works. The money has been spent on fixing a leaky ceiling and improvements for performers, but don’t worry, the venue’s unique ambience hasn’t changed.

• Eurovision is over but we’ve not heard the end of the UK’s entrant, Kentish Town’s Mae Muller whose debut album Sorry I’m Late is out on September 15. You can also catch her live on the summer festival circuit and at the Roundhouse on Nov 23.

The Emirates Stadium honours some of Sheffield’s best this week as the Arctic Monkeys play the first of five nights at Emirates Stadium (June 2, 3, 16-18). Mardy Bum was trending after they opened their Bristol set with it on Monday – the first time they have played it live in a decade – but will it make tomorrow’s set list?

• Speaking of Sheffield’s best, if you’ve ever seen Reverend & The Makers’ Jon McClure take his guitar and fans to the streets following one of his plugged-in sets, you might have an idea of what the band’s acoustic tour will be like. They play Water Rats on June 13 – recent single A Letter To My 21-Year-Old Self is a thoughtful reflection on the past 20 years.

Expect an all-day buzz around Camden Town next Thursday (June 8) as McFly play two sold out gigs at the Underworld on the eve of the release of new album Power To Play.

• Far From Saints (Kelly Jones of Stereophonics, with Patty Lynn and Dwight Baker from The Wind and The Wave) play Lafayette on June 12.

The Hives are the latest band to celebrate 30 years of The Garage. Catch them on June 13.
