FA chairman Greg Dyke got the chance to enjoy a glorious game of grassroots football on Saturday morning when he visited Whittington Park in Upper Holloway.

Dyke, who also holds a position of non-executive chairman of Brentford Football Club, stood on the sidelines as Under-10s sides representing Islington Borough Ladies FC (above) and Camden Sports Development showcased their skills.

It was also a chance to mark the improved community access to football since the introduction of the Islington Football Development Partnership (IFDP), managed by Aquaterra, 10 years ago.

Run in partnership with Islington Council and Arsenal’s Football in the Community scheme, the IFDP has won London FA’s Partner of the Year Award three times.

Football development manager Michael MacNeill said: “We were thrilled and delighted to welcome Greg Dyke to Whittington Park and to have the opportunity to present Islington’s thriving grass roots football community.”
