ARSENE Wenger is calling for “more drive and belief” from his team ahead of Saturdays derby against Tottenham.
The Gunners surrendered a two-goal lead on Saturday as former Spur Dimitar Berbatov grabbed two goals and an assist for Fulham in a topsy-turvy 3-3 draw at the Emirates.
It was a result the Arsenal fans found even harder to stomach as they were still reeling from seeing their side relinquish the same advantage in a 2-2 draw away at Schalke in the Champions League.
Wenger admits he is frustrated by his team’s inability to close out games, especially as he feels Arsenal’s performances have deserved more than what they’re getting. “You cannot say you are happy about Saturday’s 3-3 draw,” he told Arsenal Player. “You have to defend with more drive, more belief, and that’s where we were guilty I feel.
“It’s a shame because I think what these players have given in the last three games deserves to be rewarded.
“But we are not because we have to deal better with some situations – especially when we’re 2-0 up.
“We had the possibility to win the game and, of course, you have a lot of regrets.
“Of course, we are not happy because we were 2-0 up and gave a goal away on a corner without anybody jumping for the ball.
“It’s nearly unbelievable.”
